REGISTRATION OF INDUSTRIAL DESIGNS

The industrial design registration application (through the Intellectual Property Representative Organization Á Đông) includes:

1.     Power of attorney (as per the template): here

2.     Instruction: here

3.     Set of photographs/set of drawings of the industrial design: Including front views from various angles (front, rear, left, right, top, bottom) and perspective views, in jpg, pdf, or other formats.
Alternatively, a physical sample of the industrial design.

Industrial Design Registration Process:

1.     Prepare the application: Ensure that all documents are complete and accurate as required.

2.     Submit the application: At the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam or its representative offices.

3.     Examination of the application: Including formal examination, publication of the application, and substantive examination.

4.     Issuance of Industrial Design Patent: After the application is examined and accepted.

Processing Time:
According to regulations, it takes 10 months, but in practice, it may take from 12 to 14 months.

Protection Period:
5 years from the filing date, with the possibility of two consecutive renewals, each for 5 years.
